ENGINEERSCOMPASS / PROGRAM CURRICULUM
Cloud & DevOps ProApplied cloud engineering & DevOps
Build, deploy, automate and monitor real applications through a connected journey across Linux, cloud platforms, containers and delivery pipelines.
A practical learning journey. A portfolio you can explain with confidence.

THE LEARNING JOURNEY
From foundations.
To putting it into practice.
Explore the topics, guided practice and projects in your curriculum.

- Week 1: DevOps, SDLC/Agile, lifecycle from planning to monitoring, team roles and real workflows.
- Week 2: Linux distributions, files, CLI, permissions, users/groups, processes, packages, logs, SSH and shell scripting.
- Week 3: IP addressing/subnets, DNS, ports/protocols, firewalls/security groups, proxies, load balancers and troubleshooting.
- Week 4: Git setup, repositories, commits, branching, merges, pull requests, conflicts, reviews and team workflows.
Set up a Linux server and deploy a GitHub-managed web application.
02Month 2 · AWS, Azure and cloud architecture
- Week 5: IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, deployment models, regions/zones, scalability, elasticity, availability and shared responsibility.
- Week 6: AWS IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, security groups, EBS, AMIs/snapshots, load balancing, Auto Scaling, RDS and CloudWatch.
- Week 7: Azure VMs, storage, virtual networks, Entra ID, SQL, App Services, monitoring and application deployment.
- Week 8: Multi-tier architecture, DNS/domains, CDN, backups, recovery, security, cost management and optimisation.
Deploy a complete application to AWS or Azure with a domain and production-style architecture.
03Month 3 · Docker and Kubernetes
- Weeks 9–10: Containers versus virtual machines, images, Dockerfiles, networks, volumes and Docker Compose.
- Weeks 11–12: Kubernetes architecture, pods, deployments, services, ConfigMaps, Secrets and persistent volumes.
- YAML, probes, ingress, Helm, rolling updates, scaling and application management.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting containerised workloads.
Containerise an application and deploy a multi-service workload to Kubernetes.
04Month 4 · Continuous integration and delivery
- Week 13: CI/CD concepts, pipeline stages, integration, testing and release workflows.
- Week 14: Jenkins setup, jobs, Jenkinsfile, Git integration and notifications.
- Week 15: GitHub Actions events, YAML, jobs/runners, environments/secrets, builds, tests and image publishing.
- Week 16: End-to-end pipeline, registry, cloud deployment, monitoring and rollback.
Automate a code-to-cloud pipeline with build, test, container publishing and deployment.
05Month 5 · Infrastructure, monitoring and DevSecOps
- Week 17: Terraform providers, variables/outputs, state/modules and AWS/Azure infrastructure.
- Week 18: Ansible inventory, YAML playbooks, roles/templates, configuration, users, services and deployments.
- Week 19: Prometheus/Grafana metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts and application monitoring.
- Week 20: Least privilege, IAM, secrets, image/dependency scanning and secure infrastructure practices.
Provision repeatable infrastructure and add monitoring, alerts and security checks.
06Month 6 · Deployment capstone and career preparation
- Integrate cloud, containers, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure as code and monitoring.
- Production-style architecture, availability, automation, troubleshooting and documentation.
- GitHub portfolio, resume, technical interviews, mock interviews and career pathways.
- Optional learning pathways include AWS/Azure fundamentals and Terraform certifications; external exams are separate.
Demonstrate a complete cloud platform with automated deployment and operational visibility.
