THE LEARNING JOURNEY

From foundations.
To putting it into practice.

Explore the topics, guided practice and projects in your curriculum.

01Month 1 · Security, networking and operating systems
  • Week 1: CIA triad, threats, vulnerabilities, attack surfaces, malware, phishing, social engineering, controls and career paths.
  • Week 2: OSI/TCP-IP, IP/MAC/ports, DNS/DHCP/HTTP/HTTPS/TCP/UDP, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and traffic analysis.
  • Week 3: Linux architecture, terminal, file system, users/groups/permissions, processes, services, packages and shell scripting.
  • Week 4: Windows accounts, permissions, services, event logs, Defender/Firewall, patching, passwords and MFA.
Put it into practice

Audit a fictional organisation and document system/network risks in a security report.

02Month 2 · Network and web application security
  • Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VLANs, segmentation, VPNs, wireless security and monitoring.
  • Encryption versus hashing, symmetric/asymmetric cryptography, TLS/certificates, IAM, MFA, least privilege and Zero Trust.
  • HTTP, cookies, sessions, authentication and OWASP Top 10; SQL injection, XSS, access control and configuration risks.
  • Input validation, secure APIs, session controls, dependency risks, secrets and secure development/deployment.
Put it into practice

Assess a training web application and provide prioritised remediation recommendations.

03Month 3 · Ethical hacking and vulnerability assessment
  • Rules of engagement, permissions, scope, reconnaissance, asset discovery and testing methodologies.
  • Vulnerability scanning, CVE/CVSS, severity, validation, false positives and prioritisation.
  • Web, network and system testing in authorised lab environments using industry tools.
  • Evidence collection, professional reporting, remediation, retesting and verification.
Put it into practice

Complete a lab vulnerability assessment with evidence, risk ratings and fixes.

04Month 4 · SOC, SIEM and incident response
  • SOC roles, workflows, events versus incidents, alert handling, threat intelligence and indicators of compromise.
  • Windows/Linux/network/application logs, SIEM data flow, correlation, detection rules, dashboards and alerts.
  • Suspicious activity, malware/phishing indicators, threat hunting and case studies.
  • Incident lifecycle, containment, eradication, evidence, recovery, post-incident review and communication.
Put it into practice

Set up a sample SIEM monitoring environment, ingest logs and create detection alerts and dashboards.

05Month 5 · Cloud and enterprise defence
  • Cloud service models, shared responsibility, cloud networks/storage, IAM, access controls and encryption.
  • Endpoint protection, EDR concepts, hardening, patching, ransomware defence, backups and recovery.
  • Directory services, RBAC, privileged access, SSO, MFA, identity lifecycle and Zero Trust.
  • Asset inventory, threat modelling, risk assessment, policies, architecture, continuity and compliance awareness.
Put it into practice

Design a secure enterprise architecture covering network, cloud, endpoints and identity.

06Month 6 · Capstone and professional portfolio
  • Weeks 21–24: Define scope and architecture; implement, test, evaluate and improve the selected security project.
  • Documentation, setup guide, technical presentation, demonstration and peer review.
  • Resume, GitHub, technical write-ups, mock interviews and certification learning pathways.
  • The brochure also describes a follow-on portfolio/career-support block with extra session numbering; confirm its scheduling with admissions.
Put it into practice

Present a complete security project integrating assessment, hardening, monitoring and an incident-response plan.
